This periodical informs the reader about plants, resources, technologies and contacts to improve food production in the tropics. It is part of a worldwide network of people engaged in such developments, and the publication seeks to encourage the pu blicising of ideas which have succeeded in one area so they might be tried elsewhere.
Issue #53 contains articles about chaya, as a green vegetable, problems with setting fruit in tomatoes in tropical areas, distance learning courses available from ECHO, the ECHO seedbank, contributions from network members around the world, upcoming ev ents, books and other resources. The first fifty-one issues, published from 1981 till January 1996 have also been updated and compiled into a publication, "Amaranth to Zai Holes: Ideas for Growing Food Under Difficult Conditions" (404 pages).
