ANBIC Ltd. ACN 077 458 541

The Australian Native Bushfood Industry Council Ltd. has been established as a Company Limited by Guarantee, with seven elected directors. These directors, in alphabetical order, are:

Mr Dion Dorward (Australian Gourmet Exports)
Ms Caroline Graham, Company Chairperson (Australian Food and Flora Ltd.)
Ms Denise Hart, Company Secretary (Rapt Consulting Pty Ltd.)
Mr Russell Holden (RAH Pty Ltd hospitality consulting)
Mr Paul James (Gundabluey Pty Ltd.)
Ms Wendy Phelps (Longreach Bush Tucker)
Ms Juleigh Robins (Robins Bush Foods)

The function of ANBIC Ltd. is to facilitate change and progress in areas impacting on the Australian native bushfood industry, that require a federal focus.

The four main issues to be targeted are:

1. Establishment of a list of species for inclusion in Schedule A12, Food Standards Code of the Australian and New Zealand Food Authority. This schedule lists species that should not be included as a food source for human consumption. This is considered an issue of primary importance to minimise risks of food poisoning through the incorrect use and/or preparation of foods in an industry that has a considerable cottage industry base.

2. Determination and implementation of an education and marketing campaign designed to increase awareness of the benefits and uses of native bushfood as an integral component of food consumption.

3. Liaison with relevant federal government agencies to ensure the industry has a strong voice on any issues that may impact on or restrict future industry development, such as R&D requirements, the creation of communication avenues with Aboriginal communities, taxation issues and export and quarantine matters.

4. Implementation of an effective means of information dissemination to industry participants at all levels, including growers, food manufacturers, food service sectors, R&D agencies, educational institutions and marketers.

Several levels of membership of ANBIC Ltd are available, on an annual basis: new individual or individual business membership (AUD150), apprentice/student membership (AUD25), association or group membership (AUD25 for each and every member of the organisation) or continuing interim ANBIC Ltd individual members (AUD100).

The membership fees create a financial base to enable the company to address the issues above. Further details can be obtained from:
